Ergonomics

Ergonomics in physiotherapy is the study of people in their workplace and is the process in which workplaces, products and systems are designed or rearranged so that they fit the people who use them. It aims to improve workspaces and environments to reduce the risk of injury.

The main goal of ergonomics is to reduce the incidence of soft tissue injuries and musculoskeletal disorders and to enhance overall human performance, productivity, safety, and comfort while minimizing the risk of work-related injuries and health issues.

With evolving and tedious working environment, the importance of ergonomics cannot be taken for granted. The improvements gained by this technique are mainly for overall enhancement of the body alignment. Irrespective of stretches or exercises that we do and having incorrect posture can have unfavorable impacts on your body than you can imagine.

At Body & Mind, we focus on the ‘match’ between people and their working environment and to prioritize the welfare of our clients, keeping in mind their limitations as well as the capabilities within their workplaces. The intentions of using Ergonomics is to make sure that tasks, equipment used, and environment suit every worker so as to maintain the safety and health standards.

The therapist will fully assess both client and their current workstation which includes the overall setup of the workspace, personal sitting and working postures (how the work tasks are performed), and any aches or pains one may be experiencing. And then, based on the results, our team of experts emphasizes on correcting the trunk posture to enhance spine, neck and head alignment, resulting in lesser fatigue while sitting at a desk for long hours.
